Workplace in Focus reading response and Persuasive Notes reading response
When writing to persuade someone, you have to focus on the overall piece as well as the opening, body, and closing more specifically. For example, when I am writing I know that the beginning and the end of a piece are what stays with the reader the most, so they need to have interesting and relevant information. The opening should immediately catch the reader’s attention as well as encourage the reader to continue reading. For example, I would begin my story by having my readers/listeners on some self reflection such as “Have you ever known anyone who hasn’t judged you, etc,” and lead into my story in the middle.
Writers are special because each is called to their work in a different way. What I mean by this is that some writers are able to write a complete piece from beginning to end, while others start at the middle and work backwards to the beginning then back to the end or vice versa or some start at the end and work completely backwards. I hope that I will be able to inspire other writers to find their calling so they are able to write in the style that best suits them.
Upon the reflection of my story, I figured that I need to end with a statement like why pets are good for children because parents want their children to be happy, well rounded, have different experiences to help them grow, and to learn to be responsible. If children don’t have a pet they may be lonely, not as responsible or well rounded, and they might not be able to understand compassion or loving bonds between two beings, and they may not be as happy as what they could be with a pet to love them and keep them company.
In the middle of my piece, I need to focus the middle of my story by emphasizing the villains and heroes more. I also need to possibly include relevant and interesting facts to help emphasize my point to my audience. The hero is able to compromise, speaks for the child, gives the pros and cons, and isn’t biased. The hero will be able to show the pros and cons through the story, thus building credibility as the voice of reason. The villain speaks in a harsh tone, talks about how there will be no pets under any circumstances, is usually biased, and super stubborn.
