Unit 4 response #2: 3/14/2011
After reviewing the class text, Don’t Make Me Think, I have decided to use chapters 3, 4, and 10.
I chose to use chapter three for many reasons. For starters, I believe that it’s important to make our team blog reader friendly so that our readers and followers can scan the pages and still get the just of the information. In this day and age, many readers do not have the time nor the patience or willingness to read lengthy pieces on any website. Being quick and right to the point is essential to keep readers from searching elsewhere for the same information in a more condensed form. Also, I hope to break up the team blog into nice, neat sections within the already defined tabs.
I chose to use chapter four for many reasons. For starters, coming off of the information form chapter three, readers appreciate simple mindless choices. My team and I somewhat already understood this because we labeled our tabs simply and generally. Readers do not like to think more than they have to, this is a given. If a team can not spoon feed the reader, the reader will move onto another hand that will have already pre-chewed the food for them, to put it bluntly. It also comes down to the fact that readers are usually lazy which also comes full circle to chapter three as well.
I chose to use chapter ten for many reasons. For starters, just as the sub title states, our “website should be a Mensch” or be human like. It is important that any given website is relatable for readers so that the readers stay interested. If a website doesn’t contain the information that the reader is searching for or is too complex or simple for the reader’s needs, the reader will quickly move onto the next site. In addition, by keeping your reader’s goodwill high, it helps to build your, the author’s credibility and would more than likely encourage the reader to revisit your site for future information.
By combining the information from these three chapters as well as the others, I believe that my team’s blog will be successful.

Unit four response: 3/7/2011
I believe that I can contribute many different skills in order to help my team succeed on this Unit 4 project.
For starters, I believe that I am creative and able to adapt to my team’s needs well.
I enjoy working with different mediums in order to get a message across to our given audience.
Also, I believe that I am a good mediator if the team is struggling with a decision.
I will try and listen to everyone’s input and in order to allow others to express themselves fully.
I feel that people can confide in me personally and professionally.
I promise that I will always have everything that I am supposed to do completed on time so that I don’t make my team or myself look bad.
I have some leadership skills also and I am willing to wear more than one work hat if necessary to help the project run smoothly.
I am looking forward to working on someone else’s story so that I can put mine to rest. I feel that with my story I have exhausted all means of telling it and that I’m just beating a dead horse.
I believe that I am lacking certain skills and characteristics needed in this Unit 4 project as well.
For starters, I am not always the best with technology so I hope that I am lucky enough to have an individual on my team that is technological savvy.
Also, I tend to be the person in control so I know that I need to make myself aware of this in order to let someone else step up to the plate every now and then.
In addition, I also want someone else to step up and take the leadership role.
I believe that when my given team comes together that we can bring all of our strengths together in order to make an awesome final project.

This post will cover videos and websites that involve adoption of pets and why they are beneficial for children in Unit 4 from 2/18/2011.
This website adopt pet shelter, is a no kill shelter located in Naperville, IL. I found this website important and relevant to my topic because by adopting a pet for a child, you are saving that pet's life from constantly being in a tight cage. This website as well as others, encourage owners and future owners to spay or neuter their pets. Pets that are not neutered or spayed run the risk of getting pregnant. Unfortunately, many of these babies are not wanted and either end up in shelters, on the streets, or worse.
This website, pet love shack is a pro pet for children website. I found this website relevant and interesting because it makes it easy for the reader to digest the information about the pros and cons of a pet easily through highlighted words and various paragraphs
The above video shows how a handful of pets interact with children from infants to pre-schoolers. This video shows that the children and the animals enjoy each other's company. It is relevant to my topic because it shows that animal-human bonds can begin at any again and make a lasting impression.
The above video is my topic in a nutshell so it is very relevant. I believe that it is important to consider a child's opinion when considering adopting or buying a pet because the parents don't often think about things other than the financial aspect of an issue.
This website, the kennel shop is an easy website for parents debating whether or not to get their child a pet. It lists suggestions for the parent to decide if the child is ready for a as well as what kind of pet would possibly be best. It includes the essential information for parents who don't even know what a dog is up to the experienced pet lover to understand. It gives helpful, and important tips as well such as what are the best smallest, medium and large pet, how much money should I (the parent/caregiver) plan on spending on this pet, etc. I believe that my readers will also find this information helpful.
This website, amva, also lists suggestions for people who are debating about getting a pet. This site contains various tabs and other websites to help direct the reader to what is most relevant to his/her needs. This website is very informative for my reader because it allows them to get expert opinions and facts about if adopting a pet is the correct move for them.
In the above video, various animals talk about their species to children to help them better understand them. For example, the dog begins by saying that there are various kinds of dogs all over the world in different shapes and colors in order to peak the interest of children. This video is very rudimentary but my readers that are children would adore it. Some of the animals like the cow, talk about the various items that come from the cow such as milk and encourages children to drink milk. This video would help to get children interested in animals and hopefully will inspire them to ask for a pet someday.
